At early morning, all of Ukraine was placed on high alert following Ukrainian Air Force warnings of Russian missile and drone attacks.

Infrastructure Damage

The city's administration local officials reported part of the city - 70 km from the Polish frontier - had lost electricity, adding that the local anti-aircraft units were engaged heavily in countering first a UAV and then a missile strike.

As of 07:30, multiple areas were experiencing outages and public transport was not operational, with authorities stressing that it was "dangerous to venture outdoors".

In Zaporizhzhia, the nocturnal assault left "more than 73,000 consumers... without electricity", according to Ivan Fedorov.

One person was killed, and nine injured, authorities said.

A 16-year-old girl was among those requiring hospital treatment, officials noted, releasing images depicting a partly destroyed apartment building and a burnt-out car from the site of the attack.

Regional Impact

Municipal transit in another western city, would "start running later than usual" on Sunday morning, its mayor said.

The multiple strikes were components of Moscow's offensive against the entire nation overnight.

Recently, a American diplomat indicated that the US would back Ukrainian forces conducting long-range operations inside Russian territories.

Meanwhile, a different NATO country - the Baltic nation - had to close its airspace briefly after objects were spotted.

Authorities suspended flights at its main international airport for several hours, before resuming operations at 04:50 on Sunday.

The airport's operator said the flight suspensions and diversions were "because of a potential stream of balloons approaching the aviation facility".
