England Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's last Test for New Zealand was against England in the final month of 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The former Kiwi seamer is expected to be present for the first Test because of his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English team for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he said of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
English pace icon Broad had stated the Australia side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a bad Aussie side," Southee said.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the quality of [England's] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."
However, prior to England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
