BF6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.

Gamers have begun turning to tailored sessions set up using the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how demanding these missions have become.

Understanding BF6 Objectives

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four categories of assignments, but where most merely grant outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons found within the game.

Several of these restricted firearms may soon earn a place on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and functions solely at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

One more community participant pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and perhaps an additional option at a push if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are toned down in the next few updates, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.

At the moment, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced overall gameplay in coming revisions.
